Confined Space Rescue Technician

This five day program will cover all of the Job Performance Requirements of NFPA 1006 (2021ed) for Confined Space Rescue. Students will be presented theory and the supporting practical skills necessary to perform at the technician level in a confined space rescue. This is an intensive hands-on course with heavy emphasis placed on developing critical thinking, hazard monitoring and mitigation, supplied air respirators, rigging theory and horizontal and vertical movement, incident management and associated rope work.

Course Pre-requisite: Students should come with a minimum of NFPA Rope Operations through; (1) Previous training with Vector Rescue or another private company that meets awareness/operations JPR’s and supporting documentation from company, (2) in-house training with supporting documentation from Chief of Department, (3) CFA Core (or other fire academy awareness and operations program) attendance.  A technician level certification would be highly beneficial but not necessary.

PPE Required: Durable clothing suitable for confined space work, robust closed toe shoes

PPE Optional:  Helmet, Class 3 Rescue Harness, Scott SCBA Facepiece (if you have one or your department uses Scott SCBAs)
